Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is getting bigger! The success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Venom: Let There Be Carnage has proven that audiences will eat up anything that’s remotely related to the webhead. While Morbius is still set to hit cinemas, Sony is already thinking about the future of its Spider-Man Universe. With a myriad of characters to choose from, the studio has landed on a Madame Web project, with Dakota Johnson in talks to play the lead.

Deadline learned that the Suspiria star is in talks to join Sony’s ever-expanding Spider-Man universe. The Madame Web film will be directed by S.J. Clarkson and Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have penned the script.

Madame Web is best remembered as an elderly woman who was connected to a life support system that looked like a giant web. It remains to be seen how the character will be adapted for the 32-year-old Dakota Johnson, who recently appeared in Sundance favorite Cha Cha Real Smooth.

Here is the synopsis for Sony’s last Spider-Man film, No Way Home:

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx, with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
