Former Bond 25 director Danny Boyle wants to see Robert Pattinson take on the role of James Bond following Daniel Craig’s last outing as the character.
With Bond 25 said to be Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007, James Bond fans are already talking about who could replace him. While not everyone is ready to say goodbye to Daniel Craig, one suggestion that has been tossed around is Robert Pattinson. The Twilight actor recently made headlines as he landed title role in The Batman, which is being directed by Matt Reeves. Pattinson’s casting garnered huge support, as he’s recently done a few smaller films showing off his impressive range.
While it would be interesting to see Batman and James Bond be played by the same person, the most interesting part of the story is who suggested Robert Pattinson for the part, as it was none other than former Bond 25 director Danny Boyle. While promoting his upcoming film Yesterday, Boyle told The Guardian that he thought Robert Pattinson would make a great Bond while one his latest projects, High Life.
“It was so bizarre, because I was sitting there thinking: ‘Oh my God, they should get him to be the next Bond.”
When the interviewer mentioned that the 33-year-old might be a bit too young to play James Bond, Danny Boyle said the following:
“No, no, he must be in his 30s. How old was Connery? He’s ready now.”
Danny Boyle’s comments come a few days after stating he would never work on a James Bond film again following his exit from Bond 25. He was originally set to direct the final Daniel Craig James Bond film until he left the project, citing creative differences. He was replaced with True Detective and Manic director Cary Joji Fukunaga.
Ultimately, it seems everyone wants Robert Pattinson to lead their franchise. As it stands, we still have very little information about the upcoming Bond 25, but the film seems to be big considering this will be Daniel Craig’s last time playing the character.
