As well as a new Captain America, Captain America: New World Order will bring a new Falcon to the big screen and director Julius Onah has teased what to expect from Danny Ramirez in the role.
Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres was introduced in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier as an ally of Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. After deciding to take up Captain America’s shield, Sam left his old Falcon wings behind, entrusting them to Joaquin.
Julius Onah, director of Captain America: New World Order, recently spoke about Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin finally putting on the wings and the interactions between him and the former Falcon, Sam Wilson.
Captain America & The Falcon Reunite
In an interview with Screen Rant, Julius Onah spoke about working with both Danny Ramirez and Anthony Mackie on Captain America: New World Order.
Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres will be following in Sam Wilson’s footsteps, taking on the mantle of Falcon, which has been Sam’s superhero moniker since he first entered the MCU in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He will be working alongside Sam, who is now Marvel’s new Captain America.
Speaking about bringing Danny Ramirez into the fourth Captain America movie, Julius Onah said:
“I’m thrilled, you know, Danny Ramirez, who’s playing Falcon, he and I go back a bit, and Anthony’s somebody I’ve been a huge, huge fan of as well. So getting to work with them, first of all, director to actor, and then being able to shape these characters, and take the relationship forward is incredible.
“And their relationship is one of my favorite ones in this movie, it really helps form the emotional core of how Sam has to define himself as Captain America, because he loves this guy. They are both soldiers, they’re brothers, and their journey, I think, is going to be something that really resonates with audiences.”
Marvel fans can look forward to seeing Danny Ramirez’s Falcon costume nearer the time of New World Order‘s release in 2024. Anthony Mackie was first seen suiting up as Captain America in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres was last seen in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Here is the synopsis for the series:
Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”
