‘Daredevil’ Reveals How Matt Murdock Survived After ‘The Defenders’

Warning: this post includes spoilers for the third season of Marvel’s Daredevil.

The new season of Daredevil on Netflix shows fans how Matt Murdock survived the building collapsing on him at the end of The Defenders.

Fans everywhere were shocked when they witnessed the final moments of The Defenders. Matt Murdock was thought to be lost when a building collapsed on him at the end. Then it was revealed that he was alive, recovering at what appears to be a church. But how exactly did Murdock survive and how exactly did he come to be in the care of this Maggie person? The opening moments of the third season waste no time in giving fanboys and fangirls all the closure needed on the subject of Murdock’s survival.

The series premiere opens up with a lot of religious imagery including Murdock in a Christ-like position surrounded by burning debris. He is then shown falling out of a drainage tunnel. He ends up on the Manhattan shore surviving off of rainwater. He drags himself to a spot where he is found by a taxi driver. With his last bit of strength, he tells the driver about the church where he grew up. Murdock wakes up in the church where Father Lantom and Sister Maggie are attempting to heal the damaged hero. Unfortunately, the incident has left Matt’s hearing and other senses damaged thus taking away his crime-fighting abilities. Recovery becomes the name of the game for Murdock when the highly anticipated new series starts.
