‘Daredevil’: Marvel Television Has Ideas For Another Three Seasons

Daredevil Defenders Charlie Cox cancellation

Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, has revealed that there are ideas for three more seasons of the hit Netflix series Daredevil.

Daredevil is the protector of hell’s kitchen, defender of the innocent in the courtroom, and herald of The Defenderbranch of Marvel Television. Whether it was his unforgettable struggle against Vincent D’Onforio’s, Wilson Fisk, in season 1, managing the chaos Elektra, The Punisher, and The Hand brought to The Kitchen in season 2, or being the heart and soul of The Defenders – he’s Netflix’s link to the greater Marvel universe. And while season 3 is set to debut on October 19th, Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, says The Devil has plenty more adventures left in Hell’s Kitchen.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Loeb said that he has ideas for seasons 4, 5, and 6 of Daredevil and that it was simply a matter of production and Netflix contracts. Ok, that’s far from simple but as he notes in the interview, the ideas and all they need is some stars to align. As Loeb notes:

“Does Marvel have an idea as to what Daredevil 4, 5, or 6 could be? Sure. But ultimately those things will be shifted and talked about by the two other important parties that are involved: the network — Netflix — and our showrunner.”

So Loeb is, yes, alluding to the fact that there are ideas on the table and places that they want Murdock to go – but they need to get their stories and production teams straight and need to assess how much content Netflix would like from them. But the takeaway from the interview that the material is there and that Marvel Television would like to continue to produce the show. Loeb then goes on to state and while he has an idea for where he wants Murdock and all the other Defenders characters to go, Marvel Television takes things as they come and will pivot the plot to suit the needs of the story, the production teams, and Netflix.

“…We take it on a season-by-season basis, with a general idea as to where we want to be for all of our characters.”

Hopefully, we won’t be leaving Hell’s Kitchen anytime soon!

Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Jay Ali, Wilson Bethel, Joanne Whalley, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Daredevil Season 3 hits Netflix October 19, 2018.
