‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Showrunner Teases Another Villain That’s A ‘Physical Threat’

Daredevil Marvel Netflix Bullseye

Wilson Bethel’s casting for the third season of Marvel’s Daredevil led to speculation that the actor was portraying fan-favorite villain Bullseye in the Netflix series. During an interview with Screen Rant, showrunner Erik Oleson refrained from addressing the speculation but confirmed that the Man Without Fear will face a new formidable physical threat.

Oleson commented on the role this new threat will play in the season and his description of the antagonistic new character may remind comic book readers of the relationship between Matt Murdock and Bullseye:

“Well there’s another character on this show who is a very physical threat to Matt, who in many ways is able to balance and/or even, at times, best Daredevil. So, somebody who can match him blow for blow and is also deeply drawn psychologically and is a real human being and a character in and of his own right so that we will hopefully see that character as a person with his own wants, needs and desires and understand what those are. In the way that he will clash with Matt I think it will – I’m choosing my words so carefully here, guys – it will illuminate aspects of Matt’s character at the same time it will illuminate aspects of this other villain. But also Fisk and others.”

Details on the plot for Daredevil season 3 are currently under wraps, though the conclusion of The Defenders suggested that the story will be inspired by writer Frank Miller and artist David Mazzucchelli’s Born Again comic book arc. Furthermore, the second season of Iron Fist included a post-credits that features a battered and bloodied Matt Murdock in a church confession booth, claiming that he has decided to forego his social life as Matt Murdock to spend more time bringing people to justice as Daredevil.

Daredevil season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Lesley Ann Warren.

Daredevil season 3 will be released on October 19, 2018, on Netflix.
