Daredevil‘s continued popularity helped Netflix greenlight a spin-off based on The Punisher greenlit. Now, former Daredevil showrunner Stephen S. DeKnight wants Wilson “The Kingpin” Fisk to get a similar treatment on the streaming platform.

It’s recently been confirmed that Arrow producer Erik Oleson would serve as a showrunner to the third season of Daredevil due to the commitments of previous showrunners Drew Goddard and DeKnight on different projects (X-Force and Pacific Rim: Uprising, respectively). While one fan wanted DeKnight back for the next season of Daredevil, the former showrunner explained that he wouldn’t be able to commit to it – but he would but up for a miniseries about one character in particular:

Return of the King is in and of itself a Daredevil story arc, albeit one focused more on Fisk than Matt Murdock himself. Following the death of a loved one at the hands of Lady Bullseye, the Kingpin comes out of hiding to seek vengeance against this nemesis, teaming up with Daredevil in the process in order to take down a common foe. This kind of approach would lend itself to a short-form adaptation and would also give DeKnight time to pursue other projects, which would probably be a win-win all around for fans of the series.

Daredevil Season 3 is in development. Its cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk (The Kingpin).
