The Internet Reacts To The First ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Trailer

The trailer for the latest X-Men film, Dark Phoenix, has finally arrived and fans have begun to voice their thoughts on the latest Marvel adventure from 20th Century Fox.

Dark Phoenix had to have its original release date shifted in order to do some re-shoots but it looks like it may have paid off, for some at least. Characters like the X-Men have been around for decades, garnering die-hard fans all over the world. They’ve also had a pretty uneven history as a film franchise, with installments that range from totally maligned, to so-bad-it’s-good, to some downright classics in the genre.

X-Men: Apocalypse may not have been one of the most praised films of the franchise but the first trailer for Dark Phoenix promises a much darker adventure this time around. All across Twitter, fans have begun to voice their opinion on the latest addition to the 18-year long film franchise. While some seem to think that it will be a step up from Apocalypse, others seem tired with the franchise altogether.  Check out some of the fan reactions below!

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is directed by Simon Kinberg and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

“In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”

The film is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2019.
