Dave Bautista Wants Drax To Fight Thanos One-On-One

Guardians-Of-The-Galaxy-Vol.-2-Drax-The-Destroyer-Wallpaper-11629Dave Bautista’s role as Drax has been one of the great success stories of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thankfully audiences will be getting another dose of the character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 this summer, but Bautista is already looking towards the future. Coming off of the recent news that James Gunn will return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Dave Bautista shared some of his hopes for his character’s future.

“Personally I’d love to see him go head to head with Thanos. I’d love to see that. I’ve always been a proponent for that. You now, they’re just really brilliant about their writing. James Gunn has so much, well, he’ll have complete creative control over Guardians 3 and he has tons of input as far as Guardians go on in Infinity War, so I just trust in him, man. I do completely.”

This quote may reveal that Drax doesn’t get his hands around Thanos’s throat in Avengers: Infinity War, which might be disappointing for some. After all, getting a chance to fight Thanos is Drax’s main motivation for sticking with the Guardians in the first place. However, it sounds like Bautista trusts James Gunn and I think we as fans can too. You can find Drax in just a few weeks in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.

I think the idea is that Drax is normally not very strong compared to other cosmic beings, but when he’s near Thanos, he gets a boost.
