During an interview with Pro Wrestling Sheet, Dave Bautista discussed the status of his relationship with Marvel and Disney after he stood by James Gunn following the director’s dismissal from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
When Disney fired James Gunn from Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the cast of the franchise openly expressed their support for the filmmaker and none were more vocal than Drax actor Dave Bautista. In fact, Dave Bautista went as far as saying he would ask to be released from his contract with Marvel if Disney did not reinstate James Gunn, a decision the company made earlier this year. Fortunately, Dave Bautista now revealed that his relationship with both companies is still good despite his harsh words:
“I hope it’s good. I never actually talked to anybody from Disney. I only ever talk to people from Marvel. And they were very understanding about the way I felt.
I got people who are very understanding of where I stood. A lot of them just weren’t outspoken about it. And I just happened to be very outspoken about the way I felt.”
While production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was scheduled to begin early this year, the project was put on hold following the decision to remove Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy. Now, James Gunn will begin production on the third Guardians of the Galaxy film after completing work on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC. Details on the third and final chapter of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are currently unknown, though the film will likely explore the ramifications of the universe-changing events in Avengers: Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
