Fans believe Dave Bautista may have been cast as Bane in The Batman after the actor teased a meeting with Warner Bros.

While Dave Bautista is best known for this role as Drax the Destroyer in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy film series, the wrestler-turned-actor has expressed his desire to portray a comic book character in a standalone film. Many fans already believe Dave Bautista would be the perfect for the role of Bane, the iconic Batman villain best known for breaking the Caped Crusader’s back, and now some believe he may get the chance to portray the character in The Batman after the actor teased a meeting with Warner Bros. on social media.

In a post on his official Twitter account, Dave Bautista shared a photo of himself with the Warner Bros. logo behind him and included a caption that reads, “it won’t come to you so get after it!!” While Dave Bautista did not reveal any details on his meeting with Warner Bros., fans are already speculating that he may have discussed the role of Bane for Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Full plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Jayme Lawson as Bella, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Peter Sarsgaard. Recently, Colin Farrell was reportedly in talks to play the Penguin.

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
