The future seems a tad uncertain for the Guardians of the Galaxy as of Avengers: Infinity War. Gamora is dead. Star-Lord, Drax, Mantis, and Groot have been snapped out of existence. Oh, and James Gunn has been fired by the House of Mouse from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. While some of this will no doubt be undone by the fourth Avengers film next May, we do know at the very least that the third Guardians film isn’t the priority that it once was now that James Gunn is no longer attached to the franchise. So where does that leave Dave Bautista?
Since Disney’s initial firing, Dave Bautista has stood firmly behind Gunn, even to the point of wanting to make the jump to the DC Extended Universe alongside James Gunn, who is now involved with Suicide Squad 2. Whether Drax is among those revived in Avengers 4 remains to be seen, but in the meantime, with the third Guardians film off of the table, Bautista is returning to his roots with a possibly leap back into the wrestling ring. Just this Tuesday, Bautista appeared on the 1000th episode of WWE’s Smackdown Live and teased a showdown with Triple H.
After all, Marvel Studios could and probably will have something else to take the spot of the third Guardians film, maybe that Eternals movie, perhaps? If the Guardians don’t have another mission anytime soon, the actors and crew involved aren’t going to just sit and wait for production to kick off. They’re going to jump onto new assignments. Such may be the case with Dave Bautista returning to the wrestling world, which you can watch in the video below:
Indeed, with Vol. 3 put on hold, perhaps this is the time for Bautista to strike while the iron is hot and make that leap back into the ring. After all, who is to say how long the third Guardians of the Galaxy film will remain on hold? Might as well explore other avenues while you’ve got the time. Or maybe if that Gears of War film ever gets up and running, Bautista can audition for that as well. Let us know where you’d like Bautista to head next in the comments below.
