David Ayer Discusses Minor ‘Suicide Squad’ Characters

Remember when everyone thought Scott Eastwood as playing Dick Grayson or Deathstroke in Suicide Squad? Or when people thought Ike Barinholtz might be Hugo Strange? Well, David Ayer has spoken to Empire Magazine about both these characters. Warning, possible Suicide Squad spoilers lie ahead.

Even after watching the film, some hopeful people might have still been arguing that Eastwood was Dick Grayson undercover. I myself thought it a possibility. Well sorry folks, but Ayer confirmed that “he’s Flag’s right-hand man, GQ, a fairly straightforward military character.”

There is no doubt that Barinholtz, on the other hand, does not play Hugo Strange in Squad, but instead a nasty guard at Belle Reve called Griggs. One gag in the film has Barinholtz’s character, believing he is about to die, ask his friend to delete his internet history. But what exactly is on Griggs’ internet history? Well, if Ayer does know, he isn’t sharing.

“I think it’s better left unsaid! I think he does a lot of eBay shopping.”

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne, Suicide Squad is in theatres now!
