David Ayer Says “F–K Marvel.” Quickly Apologizes

Tonight was the world premiere of Suicide Squad in New York City and it was quite the spectacle. The cast and crew walked the red carpet, met a lot of news reporters and acquaintances, lots of interviews were had. It wasn’t until everyone was seated in the theater and the film’s director David Ayer took the stage that the big news to sweep the web was to occur.

David Ayer shouted out the words “Fuck Marvel” on stage after hearing what was probably a crazed DC fan in the audience say it first. Needless to say the Internet exploded with their opinion on the matter. Many people immediately went on the defense defending Marvel and were angry he said such a thing. Other people who agreed with him didn’t mind what he said, as unprofessional as it was.

Soon after this controversy David Ayer took to twitter to amend this problem.

He tweeted this:

Sorry about getting caught up in the moment and saying f*ck Marvel. Someone said it. I echoed. Not cool. Respect for my brother filmmakers.

You got to hand it to the guy for having the balls to swallow his pride and admit when he made a mistake. David quickly put out a fire that was spreading all over the net. Being put in his shoes you can’t exactly blame him, being in the heat of the moment, being on stage premiering the biggest movie of your career so far, it would be difficult not to be caught up in the moment. In the end, he obviously didn’t mean what he said and it was pretty cool of him to acknowledge all the directors of Marvel movies to be “brother filmmakers.”

Intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission. Figuring it has nothing to lose, the U.S. government supplies weapons to Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and other despicable inmates. Dubbed the Suicide Squad, the united criminals must defeat a mysterious and powerful entity while contending with the antics of the diabolical Joker (Jared Leto).

Suicide Squad opens this coming Friday, August 5th, 2016! (SO SOON!!!)

So let me get this straight. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan can talk all the [email protected]#t they want while promoting movies they’re in. But David Ayer can’t talk a little trash. Hey Nick free speech still exists, so F#$K Marvel. 😉

    • Axxell

Notice that none of the Marvel directors have actually done any of that…

        • So your point was bad, and you now have the chance to learn from it.

      • Jake Bucsko

Whedon, the Russos, etc don’t go around saying F DC because…they don’t need to.

        • SAMURAI36

Whedon doesn’t need to say F&ck DC, because he was too busy saying “F&ck Marvel” too.

    • call_me_daddy

Maybe he still wants to work in Hollywood, and Disney is one of its biggest companies?

  • Foreign Geek

Say what you mean and mean what you say! LOL!

    • SAMURAI36

I think he meant it, but it’s against WB’s policy to speak ill of other companies. People in various facets of the company (comics, TV, movies, etc) have gotten reprimanded by WB for doing so.

  • batghost

The fact that DC has reverted to shouting “F- Marvel” while Marvel simply just ignores DC shows who is really winning this “rivalry.”

I think Suicide Squad looks super rad though. I hope it is.

  • louace

Now we know the reason behind the bad reviews.

    • louace

      I stand corrected
      The movie sucked :(
