David Ayer Says King Shark Didn’t Make The Cut For ‘Suicide Squad’

The clock is ticking and Suicide Squad is about to blitz into theaters. The cast and producers are now in full on promoting mode. While doing their special #AskTheSquad segment on Twitter, a fan asked Director David Ayer if there were any other characters that he wanted in Suicide Squad that didn’t make the cut:

“One of the characters for the squad lineup that I was actually thinking about was King Shark, but we realized it would take a lot of work. A lot of CG work. I wasn’t quite comfortable having a full CG character. We actually ended up going with Killer Croc, who turned out to be the right guy for the job.”

There you have it folks King Shark was going to be in Suicide Squad, but they opted for Killer Croc to do away with a giant CGI character. King Shark recently appeared on DC and The CW’s The Flash and he was in fact a giant CGI shark. I personally think they made the right decision and I am very excited to have a live action version of Killer Croc and King Shark in two different universes.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5th, 2016.
