David F. Sandberg has confirmed one Shazam! actress will be returning for Fury of the Gods, despite her character being killed off in the first film.
Lotta Losten, a Swedish actress and Sandberg’s wife, has appeared in all of his films, though her Shazam! role may have suggested she wouldn’t be back for the sequel. In Shazam! Losten played Dr. Lynn Crosby, a colleague of Mark Strong’s Dr. Sivana, who died as a result of his attempts to reach the wizard Shazam.
However, apparently it’s going to take more than crumbling to dust to keep Losten from appearing in David F. Sandberg’s sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Lotta Losten Returns For Fury Of The Gods
In a post on his Instagram story, David F. Sandberg confirmed Lotta Losten would be appearing in Shazam! Fury of the Gods as an entirely new character.
The director was asked whether Losten would return for the sequel during a Q&A session and he revealed she would be back. Sandberg compared the actress’ return to Superman’s transformation into Clark Kent, saying she just needed to “lose the glasses” and “change the hair” to become a “totally different character.”
The Shazam! Fury of the Gods director confirmed:
“No, Lotta is in it. Yeah, she died in Shazam 1 but lose the glasses, change the hair and BAM, totally different character.
“Hey, it works for Clark Kent.”
Fans will just have to wait for Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ release to see whether Lotta Losten’s new character makes it out alive this time around. It has already been confirmed her former villainous colleague Mark Strong’s Dr. Sivana won’t be back for the sequel, so hopefully the actress’s new character keeps better company.
Here is the synopsis for the first Shazam! film:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
Directed by David F. Sandberg from a script written by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan, Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, D.J. Cotrona, Grace Caroline Currey, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Millans, Cooper Andrews, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods opens on March 17, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
