David Meunier Joins ‘Arrow’ Season 5 As DC Comics’ Ishmael Gregor

Arrow Season 5 Casting

We are getting closer to the new season of Arrow as the Green Arrow heads into its fifth year this fall on The CW. It was revealed today that Justified actor David Meunier has been cast as the DC Comics character Ishmael Gregor who will be a recurring character in the new season. Here is how Warner Bros. Television describes the TV show’s take on the character who in the comics has magical abilities from the demon Sabbac.

“Ishmael Gregor, the slick and intimidating Pakhan (“Godfather”) of the Bratva, whom Anatoly (David Nykl) reports and takes a special interest in Oliver Queen.”

“After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice. As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), former police captain Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), and brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum). But sinister players with a connection to Oliver’s past will push the team to its breaking point, threatening everything Oliver’s worked for and his legacy as the Green Arrow.”

Arrow Season 5 begins on Wednesday, October 5 at 8/7c on The CW.

Curious how this will work out since they are supposed to be more grounded in reality this time around. I have little hope for Arrow after the last two dismal seasons. Fearing that they’ll never top Season 2 and Deathstroke.

Wow, Sabbac is a Shazam villain. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Thought Arrow season 5 was supposed to not have really any magic and stuff and be back like season 1-2
