Lee was taken from his home in the Hollywood Hills to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where he passed earlier today.
In 1961, Lee almost quit the comic industry for good after being displeased with his publisher Martin Goodman and the way he was directing Lee to tell stories. Before he quit, his wife Joan Lee advised and encouraged him to write one more comic. Lee went on to write Fantastic Four with the help of Jack Kirby. It all began one month later after the book resonated with readers and Lee was asked to write more titles similar to that of Fantastic Four. He then went on to create iconic titles such as Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers.
The Marvel legend is survived by his daughter J.C. Lee. who confirmed his passing earlier today. His wife Joan passed away in July of 2017 in Los Angeles, CA after she was hospitalized following a stroke at the age of 93.
