The new animated family film DC League of Super-Pets is eyeing the #1 spot at the box office in its opening weekend debut.

As the summer blockbuster season is nearing its end, a new film is looking to take the top spot at the box office. DC League of Super-Pets, the newest family film from Warner Animation Group earned $9.3 million on its opening day, including $2.2 million from Thursday previews.

According to box office estimates, the film is looking to make around $22-23 million in its opening weekend. Along with this estimated haul, it is expected to top last week’s box office champion, Jordan Peele’s Nope.

The film currently sits at a 71% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The website’s audience score sits at 88%, which is pretty solid for an animated film centered on DC Comics characters that are aimed towards younger children. The film, which stars Dwayne Johnson as Krypto the Super-Dog and Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound among others looks to further expand the collaboration between The Rock and DC, which looks to soar to new heights later this year with the release of Black Adam.

In “DC League of Super-Pets,” Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.

Directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, the film features the voice talents of Dwayne Johnson, John Krasinski, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Marc Maron, Thomas Middleditch, Ben Schwartz, and Keanu Reeves.
