Deadpool producer Emma Watts has exited the third installment in the franchise now that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has taken control of it.

Just yesterday it was announced that Deadpool 3 was being set up at Marvel Studios, which means that Kevin Feige’s input was finally going to make its way into one of Fox’s most exciting properties. However, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stepping into the iconic franchise, Variety reports that original Deadpool producer Emma Watts has exited the third installment.

At Fox, Emma Watts served as the president of production, which made her one of the key individuals who had faith in 2016’s Deadpool and decided to get it produced. She also oversaw a bevy of other hits, including the Planet of the Apes films. Now that Fox is owned by Disney, Watts will continue to produce some of the company’s key films that have transitioned over to the Mouse House, including Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy.

Watts moving all of the Fox/Marvel properties (including Deadpool) to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige means that she gets to stay on as a principal producer on James Cameron’s multiple Avatar sequels, similarly to how Kevin Feige operates with Marvel Studios. Now that Deadpool is in the hands of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, we can expect a seamless transition for the iconic Merc with a Mouth. It’s hard to imagine that Kevin Feige won’t respect the legacy that Deadpool had over at Fox, so hopefully we’ll see Deadpool 3 the way it was meant to be seen, along with the Marvel Studios banner attached to it.

What are your thoughts on the original Deadpool producer leaving the franchise? Are you excited for Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to take on the Deadpool franchise? Let us know in the comments!
