Two of the major actresses in Marvel and Netflix’s The Defenders – Elodie Yung and Sigourney Weaver – have praised of the success of Wonder Woman and the opportunities it has created for actresses.

Yung specifically praised the increase of representation that is bound to follow Wonder Woman‘s success and put the spotlight a bit back on The Defenders by calling her co-star, Weaver, a strong woman. Weaver responded in kind by noting how happy she was that Wonder Woman has done so well, and she also noted that she hopes this kind of empowerment leads to more women speaking up on the political issues that matter to them.
