‘The Defenders’: Elodie Yung Explains Elektra’s Role On The Series

Elodie Yung Elektra Dardedevil Defenders
When viewers last saw Elodie Yung as Elektra, the highly skilled assassin had been resurrected by The Hand at the end of Daredevil‘s second season. Destined to become a weapon of The Hand known as The Black Sky, Elodie Yung explained how Elektra will be an entirely different character when she returns in The Defenders during an interview with CinemaBlend.

Yung explained Elektra’s role in the series and discussed her relationship with the main adversary of the show named Alexandra:

“It was a great idea. I think they got really inspired by the comics. Elektra dies and comes back in a new outfit, and she’s changed. It was a really cool and interesting thing to have Elektra again, just being a completely new character. Almost, because she doesn’t remember anything. And so exploring kind of a new character was exciting for me. So this is where we start. And then Alexandra takes over this new Elektra and forges her the way she wants her to be, if that makes sense. So that’s the start.”

It’s no secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has concentrated on their heroes over their villains on the film side. Some fans biggest complaints are that the villains serve more as a tool, a plot device, or an obstacle for our heroes to overcome. That is not the case in the Marvel/Netflix Defenders shows. Since the shows have more than 13 hours to develop characters, they have 13 hours to develop their antagonists as well. Some of the best character work in the entire MCU has been done for Wilson Fisk (Daredevil), Kilgrave (Jessica Jones), Cottonmouth (Luke Cage), and Ward Meachum (Iron Fist).

As “Phase 1” of the Netflix shows comes to a conclusion with The Defenders teaming up all our heroes against Alexandra and the Hand, you know that they will be gearing up for “Phase 2.” This means that there will be new adventures for our heroes, as well as new dynamic villains to give them all sorts of trouble. Some villains would be some returning from previous shows, others are classic Marvel characters that need to come to the small screen in this universe. Here is a list of some villains surely to make a park in future Marvel/Netflix shows. Click Next to take a look….
