Anticipation is running high for Marvel’s upcoming new miniseries event, The Defenders. After the success of their four respective shows preceding this ultimate team-up featuring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, fans are excited to see what these four problematic heroes are capable of when they need to unite together when their biggest threat invades New York.
Within the formation of this team, fans are incredibly excited to see the iconic duo of Power Man and Iron Fist finally meeting to possibly tease more of their dynamic in the future. We got a glimpse at their first interaction in the first teaser released a few months back, and seeing that shot of Danny’s glowing fist hitting Luke in the face was one of the most exciting moments.
Both Mike Colter and Finn Jones appeared at the official Hall H panel for The Defenders at San Diego Comic-Con last week alongside their co-stars that include Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter and Sigourney Weaver. Colter and Jones also had the opportunity to tease what their characters’ relationship in the series will be like:
Jones: “I think that’s a little bit surprising, because everyone knows us as being bffs and actually the first time we see each other there’s conflict, and it grounds and roots the characters into reality a little bit better, which I think is really interesting.”
Colter: “I think it’s just one of those things where Luke has the advantage of years of experience. He’s a little older than Danny, he’s sort of been around, done that. He’s been in prison! He’s got some miles, he’s got some experiences… I’m from the streets, and that’s where we operate.”
In less than a month, we will finally see the early adventures of Power Man and Iron Fist when they unite with Daredevil and Jessica Jones as the Defenders. All episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders will be available to stream on Netflix on August 18, 2017.
Lingering Questions Leading Up To ‘The Defenders’
With the release of the first season of Iron Fist, all four Defenders have made their streaming debut to set up this summer’s mashup miniseries The Defenders. Each season has built on the last, building an intricate mythology with a living, breathing New York City to house it. The Hand has been introduced as a sort of evil S.H.I.E.L.D. to link Marvel’s Netflix dramas, building to the four uniting against them. Their separate investigations will bring them together in – what else – a hallway fight.
The culmination of the first phase of the Marvel/Netflix partnership has a lot of ‘splaining to do. What’s the Hand’s true objective? How will our four heroes interact together and how will the supporting casts of their shows intersect here? And perhaps most importantly, who is the Big Bad played by Sigourney Weaver?
