Marvel’s The Defenders had a significant presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Across the street from the convention center, Netflix featured the series alongside Stranger Things and Bright for an incredible offsite experience that allows fans to see some of the props and mock-up sets from those three projects.

Marvel and Netflix also had a panel for The Defenders in Hall H on Friday evening where much of the series’ cast appeared onstage to discuss the highly-anticipated culmination of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Much to the crowd’s surprise, the first episode of the series premiered in Hall H and has since received strong praise.

On Twitter, the official account for The Defenders released a scene from the first episode of the show. This scene focuses on Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as he having a sacrament of penance with Father Lantom (Peter McRobbie). Father Lantom asks Matt about his feelings regarding his lost love Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung), which leads to Matt reflecting on both the good and bad experiences he had with her.

Here is the synopsis for The Defenders:

“Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

All episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders will be available to stream on Netflix on August 18, 2017.
