New ‘Detective Pikachu’ Still Shows Tim & Pikachu On The Defensive

Ryan Reynolds Detective Pikachu Pokemon Charizard Jigglypuff Justice Smith

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released a new still from the upcoming Detective Pikachu, film showing the titular talking Pokemon (voiced and facially motion-captured by Ryan Reynolds) and his new human partner Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) looking prepared to deal with a threat coming in their direction. You can check it out below.

You’ll probably recognize this scene from the first trailer for the film that was released, and from the looks of what was shown it’s assumed that this is just before a group of Greninja storm the facility they’re investigating. It’s unknown if these Greninja are associated with anyone in particular though. Mewtwo is said to be the film’s villain, but there’s no saying that outside forces are involved in the mystery of Tim’s father’s disappearance, right?

Perhaps Team Rocket? It wouldn’t be against them to have agile Pokemon like Greninja to help them carry out their plans. Fingers crossed, though.

What do you think of this still? Do you think these are Team Rocket’s Greninja? Let us know down below!!

Here is a synopsis for the upcoming film:

A young man joins forces with Detective Pikachu to unravel the mystery behind his father’s disappearance. Chasing clues through the streets of Ryme City, the dynamic duo soon discover a devious plot that poses a threat to the Pokémon universe.

Directed by Rob Letterman, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu stars Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Paul Kitson, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, Karan Soni, Bill Nighy, Suki Waterhouse, Chris Geere, Rita Ora, and Omar Chaparro.

Be sure to catch ’em all when the Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Detective Pikachu and the future of the Pokemon franchise as we learn it.
