From what we have seen so far, Arrow season five is shaping up to give Legends of Tomorrow a run for it money in the superhero team up category. With Curtis going full on Mr. Terrific and the introduction of Wild Dog, Vigilante, and Artemis, it looks as if Oliver will have his hands full with all of these newbies. After how much trouble he had just accepting Roy as a sidekick in season two, it will be interesting to see how Oliver handles training all of these new heroes.

Aside from Oliver, what does the rest of the original Team Arrow think of all these new faces? Well, with Felicity being the only member of the team to stick with Oliver at the end of season four, we already know she will be all for it – and will actually have an active role in bringing these new heroes in. As it turns out, Diggle will be the one to take up issues with the new team.

According to Arrow EP Wendy Mericle, Diggle will begin the season still in the military, but will quickly find out that he truly belongs back in Star City. After what is sure to be a quick return, Mericle explains that Diggle isn’t exactly thrilled that Oliver has “replaced” him with a new team.

“He’s stationed in Chechnya. He’s still in the military, and he’s very much a man without a state. He’s away from his family, and he’s away from the team, so he’s away from that family. He’s trying to figure out how he can get that sense of himself back after killing his brother. He’s not going to love all these little upstarts, trying to take over his role.”

In addition to feeling replaced, Diggle is also trying to come to terms with the fact he killed his own brother. Even though it was very much justified, that is not an easy thing to come back from. Mericle continues on, hinting that Diggle’s feeling of replacement won’t last very long as he will eventually begin to bond with one of the new heroes.

“But he’ll adjust. He’s going to find some common ground with Wild Dog, and that will help take the sting out of it.”

Jack of some trades, master of some others. That saying never really made a lot of sense to me.

  • You man to tell me that Diggle will be surly about something?

Also, Andy was just the lamest character ever.
