Peter Dinklage & Elle Fanning Think WB’s Supergirl Should Be Directed by Reed Morano

Supergirl DC

Supergirl has flown faster than a speeding bullet to the top of Warner Brothers list of projects to kick into development as one of its next titles for its struggling Cinematic Universe. Now, it appears the suggestion box is filling up fast with recommendations on who should helm the film.

It hasn’t been long since news broke that Warner Brothers has their sights set on a Supergirl film and we already have people talking about who should sit in the directors chair in the next female-led DC film. Both Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning think director reed Moreno is a solid choice to bring Kara-Zor El back to the big screen. While promoting their new film I Think We’re Alone, Dinklage started to build up some hype in recommending Moreno for the job noting her excellence in her fields.

“I just heard about it today, but stranger things have happened out of rumors. Could be fun to start rumors and make a movie! Reed is just a beautiful cinematographer and director.”

His costar, Fanning, agrees that Moreno is an amazing filmmaker and would be perfect to direct caped female crusader’s return to the silver screen.

“Reed is someone who is so inspiring when you watch her, just her abundance of artistic talent and how she can juggle so many things … I’m open to [her directing Supergirl], sure!”

Moreno commented on the Supergirl situation expressing interest but making it clear she has received no calls from the studio about the project.

“I don’t know if it’s really a thing, [but] I like the idea of doing something new every time, so I don’t say no to any idea. I’m always thinking [how] I can bring something new to the table that still feels authentic to the story, not [doing something] just for the sake of doing something new. But if there’s a reason for me to do [Supergirl] in particular, then I would like to do it.”

Supergirl was last brought to the screen in 1984 starring Helen Slater in the titular role. Melissa Benoist is about to portray Kara Zor-El for an upcoming 4th season, a CW series that shows little signs of slowing down. All this and including the success of Wonder Woman, it’s a no brainer that the world needs a Supergirl film now more than ever, and Moreno is a solid choice to be the one to bring the character back to the big screen.

Warner Brothers has now shifted their focus to Supergirl and have hired Oren Uziel to pen the script. As of right now no one else is attached to the project and remains in early development.
