Disney has followed up on its promise to add CEO Bob Chapek to the Board of Directors after he was recently announced as Bob Iger’s successor.
Following his promotion to Disney CEO after Bob Iger stepped down, Bob Chapek has been added to Disney’s Board of Directors as promised. However, following the coronavirus pandemic, Iger has recently had to step back into a more active role within the company. Before being promoted to CEO, Chapek had recently been the Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Products. Iger and Independent Lead Director of the Board, Susan Arnold, announced Chapek’s addition in a joint statement,
The joint statement explained that Disney CEO Bob Chapek had already made in an incredible impression in the time since his promotion, showing he can successfully navigate a worldwide crisis with “decisiveness and compassion.” Considering Disney has furloughed thousands of employees because of the pandemic, it isn’t surprising that Iger offered to help the company during the difficult time, but it’s good to know that the Board has faith in Chapek to still offer him a place. Take a look at the statement below.
“Bob Chapek has demonstrated remarkable leadership in the face of unprecedented challenges that were unimaginable when he became CEO just seven weeks ago, and we’ve watched him navigate this very complex situation with decisiveness and compassion. We are pleased to add Bob to the Board, as we stated we would when he was named CEO.”
