Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness features Wanda Maximoff’s MCU return after she was last seen in WandaVision and a new TV spot confirms her children are also coming back.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s Master of the Mystic Arts will be accompanied by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with trailers teasing the sorcerer approaching her for assistance in navigating the multiverse. Wanda was last seen in the first of Marvel’s Disney Plus series, WandaVision. The show saw Wanda struggling with her grief in the wake of Vision’s death in Avengers: Infinity War. In her pain, Wanda tapped into a greater power than she ever knew she possessed and created a sitcom-inspired false reality for herself and her own projection of Vision.
Over the course of WandaVision, Wanda became pregnant and gave birth to twin boys, who rapidly aged from infants to preteens. The boys, Billy and Tommy, inherited Wanda’s magic and her brother Pietro’s super speed respectively. At the series’ end, it was revealed the twins were just another part of Wanda’s illusory reality and vanished along with the rest of Wanda’s projections.
A post-credits scene, which saw Wanda’s astral form studying the Darkhold – a book of magical knowledge – and hearing her children’s voices as they cry for help. The newest TV spot appears to confirm Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will follow up on this tease, showing Wanda reuniting with her sons. Check it out below:
Whether Wanda’s children will truly return, or if their presence is yet another illusion cast by Wanda, Strange or another MCU sorcerer, is yet to be seen.
