‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ Merch Teases Alternate Avengers Team

A new team?

New merchandise from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness points at an alternate version of The Avengers running around the multiverse.

If Spider-Man: No Way Home was the craziest thing Marvel Studios has done with the multiverse, one can only imagine what audiences will witness when the Doctor Strange sequel hits cinemas. One of the most anticipated films of the year, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see the good doctor trying to navigate the chaos of the multiverse, as well as alternate versions of familiar characters.

While the film has been teased as Marvel Studios’ first horror film thanks to director Sam Raimi, it also looks like the sequel will be the studio’s most self-referential, perhaps even more so than Avengers: Endgame. Reports have suggested for some time that the film will feature alternate versions of numerous established Marvel characters. Now, it looks like merch for Doctor Strange’s second outing has all but confirmed that.

A new listing on Amazon for an officially licensed t-shirt shows the traditional Avengers logo. Look closer and the red background on the logo sticks out like a sore thumb. Digging even deeper, the description for the t-shirt confirms that the logo belongs to an alternate version of the Avengers, one that could potentially be more foe than friendly.

“Experience Doctor Stephen Strange in a whole new mind-bending adventure with Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This Avengers t-shirt showcases the Avengers logo for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes that might just be from a whole new multiverse.”

It remains to be seen if any of the core former Avengers like Iron Man, Black Widow, or Captain America will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx, with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
