It’s been hinted at for quite some time that we shouldn’t expect the character to appear but some still held out hope that there was a chance we might see the new live-action ‘Green Lantern’ make his DCEU debut in the upcoming Justice League. I’m not here to crush your hopes but based on a new report, much like making “Fetch” a thing, you should likely stop expecting this particular one to happen. During their recent visit to the set of the Zack Snyder directed film, CinemaBlend made sure to keep an eye for an indication that the character might be popping up and were unable to find anything of that sort. The outlet stated the following.
“…because after visiting the London set of the upcoming DC blockbuster, I can tell you there were no signs of Hal Jordan, Jon Stewart or any member of the Lantern Corps., and no announced plans to make him part of the team at this stage.”
While this isn’t exactly news, it’s pretty clear that the film has a lot of ground to cover and the inclusion of the fan-favorite character doesn’t seem to be one of those things. But is that really a bad thing? With the upcoming Green Lantern Corps film not expected to hit theaters until 2019 at the earliest, it’s probably in the studios best interests to hold off on introducing the character until we get closer to that release date. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see some hints about the character’s cinematic future when Justice League hit theaters late next year. Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below.
