Doom Patrol show runner Jeremy Carver has revealed plot details to the upcoming second season of the show.
The first season of Doom Patrol was one of the most brilliant romps through insanity and pushed the envelope in terms of madness for what DC television could do. After all, the season finale ended with them trying to save a literal sentient street and a giant cockroach. The fractured team came back together in the finale to help save Niles and Dorothy, despite Niles being the one behind their respective tragedies.
Speaking with TVInsider, Jeremy Carvel revealed what exactly we can expect from the second season of Doom Patrol, with much of the conversation surrounding how the team will be dealing with Niles’ betrayal.
“It’s raw and unresolved right now. They all have to come to grips with [those feelings] in Season 2.”
Carver continued by discussing how Dorothy comes into the mix of the time, discussing how Niles’ quest for immortality began with Dorothy.
“Now they have a child in their midst who is very demanding because of superpowers that she has that are somewhat uncontrollable. They and Niles are going to have to figure out a way to keep the world safe from Dorothy.”
Carver didn’t explicitly mention if the Doom Patrol would return to their regular sizes come season 2, but his answer seems to be a yes, citing that it’s a very unique problem for them to have.
“It’s a Doom Patrol pickle that feels very Doom Patrol to us,”
Once again playing coy, Jeremy Carver teased that Mr.Nobody could be back as he isn’t technically dead.
“Mr. Nobody was hoisted by his own petard and he remains trapped in this painting with the Beard Hunter. I would assume that we could.”
The second season of Doom Patrol is shaping up to be quite an interesting season. Be sure to check back for the latest news on the upcoming sophomore season!
Doom Patrol stars Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor/Negative Man, Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele/Robotman, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as Victor Stone/Cyborg and Timothy Dalton as Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief.
