Another day, another unbelievable casting announcement for Legendary’s upcoming Dune remake. This time they went and added David Dastmalchian.
The news comes to us hot off the presses of Deadline, who is reporting that David Dastmalchian is slated to play Piter De Vries. The site refers to the character as a person who is trained to be as smart as a computer.
David Dastmalchian has one of those faces you never forget but a name you can never remember (he would like you to know that his name is pronounced “Da-Small-Chin”). The actor recently appeared in such films as Netflix’s own Bird Box and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. He also made an impressionable appearance in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, where he played an escaped convict tortured by Harvey Dent after he made the transition over to Two-Face.
The upcoming Dune film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve who co-wrote the script along with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. Villeneuve has made a name for himself in the industry after helming such critical darlings as Prisoners, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049.
David Dastmalchian joins what has quickly become one of the most impressive rosters of on-screen talent in recent memory, which already includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. Legendary acquired the film and television rights to Frank Herbert’s novel in November 2016 with Denis Villeneuve officially signing on to helm a feature film reboot in February 2017. Villeneuve has described the reboot as a dream project.
The project won’t mark the first time that Dune has received a live-action adaptation. David Lynch directed a Dune film that was released in 1984. It was met with polarizing reviews but has since gained cult status. The 2000 Dune mini-series, meanwhile, remains one of the highest-rated programs on the Sci-Fi channel.
Dune is currently set to be released on November 20th, 2020.
New ‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’ Posters Showcase Rodan, Mothra & Ghidorah
Earlier this week, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the newest trailer for their highly-anticipated sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The new trailer showed off some more epic action following the beloved monster along with some incredible sequences involving Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah.
Now, Legendary has shared three brand new posters for Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah. Given that Godzilla will be battling with these monsters in the new film, it makes sense to see them receive their own poster that boasts their size and scale as they unleash their terror against humankind.
Given that Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah all take flight unlike Godzilla, it is going to be stunning visual spectacle to see them take the skies and swoop down as they all battle to the bitter end for what looks to be one of the most-anticipated blockbusters of 2019.

Directed by Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr., with Ken Watanabe and Ziyi Zhang.
Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be released in theaters on May 31, 2019.
