Black Adam director Jaume Collet-Serra teased the film’s clashes between Dwayne Johnson and the Justice Society of America.

2022 is shaping up to be a massive year for DC movies. With their slate kicking off with The Batman, a few months later, fans will return to the DC Extended Universe with the long-awaited Black Adam movie starring Dwayne Johnson. In that film, we will explore the character’s origins along with his clash with the Justice Society of America.

The film’s director Jaume Collet-Serra spoke with Total Film, teasing some exciting details regarding this new collaboration with Dwayne Johnson. In particular, he teased the unique dynamic that the members of the Justice Society of America have with one another, and how they as a team must work together in an attempt to thwart the threat of Black Adam:

“You have a couple of seasoned veterans, like Hawkman and Doctor Fate, and you have a couple of newbies like Atom Smasher and Cyclone,. And that chemistry and coming together to try to defeat someone who’s undefeatable like Black Adam, creates a lot of interesting situations without having the pressure to carry the whole movie. That’s a much more fresh way in.”

Perhaps the most prominent quote that has been associated with promoting Black Adam comes from none other than Dwayne Johnson himself. He often exclaims that “The hiearchy of the DC Universe is about to change.” Sure enough, it sounds like he’s not playing around.

In addition to Dwayne Johnson, the film stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, and Bodhi Sabongui are also on board in undisclosed roles. Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing the movie with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. FlynnPictureCo’s Scott Sheldon serves as an executive producer.

Black Adam is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the highly-anticipated Dwayne Johnson film, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original content.
