How much worse can they get? Half of humanity is gone. Heroes have been wiped from the face of the Earth and we’ve been told repeatedly that deaths will stick, Spider-Man doesn’t feel so good, and Carol Danvers hasn’t flown in to save the day yet. In the name of humanity, what more can be done in the follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War? Well, according to Elizabeth Olsen, much worse. Hopefully the much worse isn’t referring to her accent for the Scarlet Witch, which is all but gone in Infinity War, but that’s a different conversation.
While at ACE Comic-Con this past weekend, the Scarlet Witch actress was asked, by Tom Hiddleston of all people, about what the heroes in Infinity War lost, such as Wanda sacrificing Vision by destroying the Mind Stone. Indeed, a very strong and powerful sacrifice that was immediately undone by Thanos. Time Stones are effective like that, you know? But during this conversation, Elizabeth Olsen made it clear that things won’t get easier in the follow-up Avengers film. More than that, she revealed how she came to learn the conclusion of Infinity War from the Russo Brothers:
“It’s only going to get worse. I found out from the Russos exactly what was going to happen, and it wasn’t until we shot it on that day we learned what the ending was.”
Again I must ask — how worse can things get? Obviously it’s too early and not possible for Scarlet Witch to discover some Earth-shattering revelation like, I don’t know, she’s a mutant, if it gets to that point in the MCU. Perhaps she’d have to relive Vision dying yet again if time travel is a factor in Avengers 4? Or maybe Elizabeth Olsen’s Russian accent will just get worse? Obviously you expect good to triumph over evil because there’s a good chance most of the damage done in Infinity War will be undone. Call it a hunch.
But with that said, just how worse could things get for Scarlet Witch and the rest of the remaining heroes by the time the fourth Avengers film hits theaters next spring? And, more than that, how do you think they will all be undone because you know they probably will be? Let us know in the comments below.
Avengers: Infinity War is available now on Digital HD, 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
