Elizabeth Olsen is the latest Avengers star alongside Brie Larson to express interest in an all-female Marvel Studios film.
Recently, the Academy Award-winning Brie Larson expressed interest in seeing her character Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel take part in an all-female film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brie Larson mentioned that she along with other women involved with Marvel Studios asked president Kevin Feige about considering a film centered on an all-female cast.
Now, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen is coming out expressing interest in bringing the female superheroes (and villains) of the Marvel Cinematic Universe together for one film:
“I think people really love these characters. I feel like all the men in Marvel movies have done such a brilliant job with satisfying a lot of things our audiences want, and they’re funny and they’re talented. And so are all the women. And to give them more screentime, I think, would be a huge impact because comics aren’t just for boys who want to watch big boys.”
One of the most memorable moments from Avengers: Endgame was during the film’s climactic battle in which much of the franchise’s prominent women including Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel assembled to battle with Thanos (Josh Brolin) and the rest of his army. The scene was praised by critics and fans alike, as a nice bit of fan service paying tribute to all the women that helped bring the franchise to life.
Both Elizabeth Olsen and Brie Larson are set to reprise their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Elizabeth Olsen will headline the upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision alongside Paul Bettany while Brie Larson is expected to return in an upcoming sequel to Captain Marvel.
