Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen has some high praise for the pilot to her upcoming Disney Plus series WandaVision.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly about an assortment of topics, Elizabeth Olsen explained that fans will need to expect the unexpected for WandaVision, a series that will fully unleash the powers of Scarlet Witch. The story of WandaVision seemingly involves Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff using her powers to create a new reality for herself where she can live a quiet life alongside the Vision (Paul Bettany), but naturally, things will take a turn for the unusual. Elizabeth Olsen herself says that she’s thrilled to explore her character in this way with WandaVision. Here’s what she told Entertainment Weekly:
“[WandaVision is] a really clever story, and it’s surprising. It’ll be a good time, and I think fans will really get excited by it as well… I heard the premise and I understood it immediately. I was like, ‘Kevin Feige, you’re a genius!’ I have other questions that I probably still don’t have answers for right now, but I understood exactly what he wanted to do and that really excited me.”

WandaVision has been described as half-sitcom and half-blockbuster, potentially being the strangest of any of Marvel’s Disney Plus shows (a lineup which also includes What If…?, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk). WandaVision will also directly lead into the events of the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will feature Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch prominently, as the Disney Plus shows are said to connect directly to the events of the films themselves.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch was last seen in the climactic battle of Avengers: Endgame. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
