Scarlet Witch has had a big impact on the MCU since debuting in Avengers: Age of Ultron (although she technically first appeared in the Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s end credits). Her powers are also the catalyst this month’s box office smash Captain America: Civil War. But how much do audiences really know about magical heroine? Wanda Maximoff’s real-life counterpart Elizabeth Olsen stopped by the Allure YouTube channel to give a comprehensive breakdown of her character’s origins, her long history, her various powers. Despite her relative newness, Wanda has already played key roles in the storylines of Age of Ultron and Civil War, whether it’s her visions which guilt-tripped Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) into creating Ultron and supporting the Sokovia Accords or her burgeoning romance with Vision (Paul Bettany) who possesses the source of their powers – the Mind Stone, one of the Infinity gems which I hear a certain purple galactic conqueror might be searching for.
Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is most likely to pop up next in the one or possibly both parts of the Avengers: Infinity War duology, which is currently awaiting new titles. The first film will be released May 4, 2018, the second May 3, 2019.
