Ella Balinska discussed her audition for the role of Catwoman in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.
Warner Bros.’ The Batman will star Robert Pattinson as a new and younger version of the Caped Crusader, with Zoe Kravitz playing Gotham City burglar known as Catwoman. Of course, before Kravitz landed the role, Warner Bros. audition multiple actresses for the role of Catwoman, including Ella Balinska.
In the recently released Charlie’s Angels film, Kristen Stewart’s Sabina Wilson makes a comment about wanting to see Ella Balinska’s Jane Kano cosplay as Catwoman. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ella Balinska was asked if this Catwoman reference was a nod to her audition for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, but the Charlie’s Angels star explained that this was merely a coincidence:
“That is a funny coincidence, but I was very excited to see that Zoe Kravitz landed that role. I think she’s gonna be great.”
Afterward, Ella Balinska was asked if she could comment on her audition for the role of Catwoman. However, Ella Balinska simply complimented Warner Bros. for what she called a “streamlined process”:
“It was an extremely streamlined process. They’re really great at what they do, and it was another very fun day at the office. (Laughs.)”

Full plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Jayme Lawson as Bella, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Recently, Colin Farrell was reportedly in talks to play the Penguin.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
