Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa shared the screen in Game of Thrones.

Emilia Clarke Mera Amber Heard Aquaman 2

A new concept design sees Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke suiting up as Mera to replace Amber Heard in Aquaman 2.

Aquaman was a smash hit for Warner Bros. and DC, racking in over one billion dollars at the worldwide box office. The film was also a much-needed critical win for DC, with considerable praise being hurled towards Jason Momoa and Amber Heard’s performances, as well as James Wan’s direction. Aquaman 2 is currently filming in London, with Heard and Momoa returning in their roles as Atlantean royalty. During the film’s pre-production, it was uncertain if Heard would be returning to the franchise, which led many fans to theorize who would be an adequate replacement for the Mera actress. One name that frequently came up was Emilia Clarke, most well-known for her role in HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa previously shared the screen on Game of Thrones, making the British star a no-brainer for the role of Mera. While Emilia Clarke won’t be joining the DC Extended Universe, this concept design imagines the Game of Thrones alum as Mera, giving us insight into the hypothetical but fan-favorite casting.
