Emma Thompson is in talks to join the latest live-action Disney villainess film, Curella, starring Emma Stone as the 101 Dalmations villain.
Disney just released the first trailer for Angelina Jole’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, while another live-action film focused on an iconic villainess moves forward. Variety reports Emma Thompson is in talks to join the already attached Emma Stone in Cruella. This isn’t Emma Thompson’s first forray into Disney’s recent live-action remakes of beloved animated films, as she starred in 2017’s Beauty and the Beast as Mrs. Potts. There is no word on who Emma Thompson could be playing at this time. The project has been in development over at Disney for years with I, Tonya‘s Craig Gillespie the latest signed on to direct.

Cruella is one of many upcoming live-action remakes of animated films in development at Disney with next being Aladdin, here is the synopsis:
“Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.
Directed by Guy Ritchie from a script he co-wrote with John August, the film stars Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, and Numan Acar as Hakim.
Aladdin will be released in theatres on May 24, 2019.
