Ethan Hawke has teased that the final two episodes of Moon Knight are pretty exciting.
The fourth episode of Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight certainly left viewers in a crazy loop. Without giving away too much, the series perhaps took some of the most twisted turns any Marvel Cinematic Universe series has done so far, with perhaps one of the most bonkers conclusions to any episode; much of which is thanks to Oscar Isaac’s brilliant performance, complemented by Ethan Hawke’s portrayal as the antagonist. And with two episodes left, things are likely to only get a bit crazier from here.
In an interview with The Wrap discussing Episode 4 of Moon Knight, Ethan Hawke reflected on the titular protagonist being an unreliable narrator, and teased how that will continue to be played out in the next two episodes of the series:
“We have a hero who has a fractured mind. And he’s an unreliable narrator. And what you realize at the end of four is that you’re being told a story from his point of view, and his point of view might be misleading…
And what the rest of the journey — his journey is to integrate all his selves into one, and as he integrates it, reality itself gets clearer. So things will be made clear, but just not yet.”
Part of the appeal of Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight is the fact that it is told through the perspective of its mentally ill hero, intentionally disorienting viewers to second guess what they are watching. Based on Ethan Hawke’s comments here, it is likely that some clarity will be made in the next two episodes, so hopefully things will look a bit better for the character, since things are looking quite grim.

The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.
