The Hollywood Reporter has revealed The Expendables co-writer Dave Callaham has signed on to write the highly-anticipated Wonder Woman sequel.
Callaham will write the script based on a treatment that director Patty Jenkins and DC creative chief officer Geoff Johns have been developing for several months.
The announcement of Callaham comes just days after it was revealed that Jenkins had closed a deal to co-write, produce, and direct the sequel starring Gal Gadot as the titular superheroine, although the sequel’s announcement came during the studio’s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.
Plot details for the sequel remain under wraps but Warner Bros. is set to dial the clock back for the film as it will once again be a period piece, only this time we’ll follow Gadot as the Amazonian Princess during the Cold War as she faces off against the Soviet Union in the 1980s.
Wonder Woman is available on Digital HD August 29, and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD September 19. You can check out our review on Heroic Insider Rebirth here.
