The Falcon and The Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie star revealed that he spotted a shield on the set of WandaVision.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame concluded with Captain America, now an old man after traveling to the past to live out his life with Peggy Carter, returning to the present to pass his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. This year, fans will finally get to see how Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson is handling the responsibility of being the new Captain America when The Falcon and The Winter Soldier debuts on Disney Plus.

During an interview with The Daily Beast, Anthony Mackie noted that the response to Falcon being named the next Captain America has been “overwhelming.” When the topic of discussion turned to his training, Anthony Mackie revealed that he believes everyone in the Marvel team is receiving lessons on how to handle the weapon after spotting a “random shield” on the set of WandaVision:

“The funny thing about the shield training is, I feel like everyone has had shield training. I went by WandaVision, and there was a random shield. I was like, everyone’s getting shield training now!”

While Anthony Mackie does not seem to specify whether the shield was another Captain America weapon or not, his comments will likely have fans speculating on what it could mean for WandaVision. Considering WandaVision is said to involve multiple realities, it would not be outside the realm of possibilities for the Captain America shield to at least make an appearance on the Disney Plus series.

Here is the official synopsis for WandaVision:

Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision” blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Directed by Matt Shakman with Jac Schaeffer as head writer, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, and Kathryn Hahn in an undisclosed role.

Anthony Mackie’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus in August 2020 while WandaVision will be debut in December 2020
