RUMOR: ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ May Feature A Zola Appearance

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Armin Zola

According to a new rumor, Zola may make an appearance in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

This rumor comes courtesy of Murphy’s Universe, whom previously reported on the rumor that Doctor Doom may be the antagonist of the upcoming Black Panther 2. Based on Charles Murphy’s report, Zola will make an appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier but in regards to the context the character will appear, Murphy speculates numerous possibilities. One of those possibilities includes a return of Armin Zola’s consciousness as seen portrayed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In that film, it was revealed that Zola (Toby Jones) preserved his consciousness into a computer after dealing with a life-threatening illness. Zola’s system ends up getting destroyed when the base in Camp Lehigh gets bombed.

Murphy also speculates that for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the Zola that appears in the upcoming series may not be Toby Jones’ Armin Zola but rather his daughter Jet Zola, a character first introduced in the comic, Captain America Vol. 7 #1. In that comic, it’s revealed that Jet Zola and her brother Ian were created by Armin Zola during his time in Dimension Z.

Whether or not we see Armin Zola or Jet Zola in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, it’s always fun to speculate about how the highly-anticipated show will continue to expand the lore of not just the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole, but also further explore the history of the characters from previous generations that have helped set up the world that both Anthony Mackie’s Falcon and Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier now inhabit.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier is currently set to be the first Marvel Studios series to debut on Disney+. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the series is rumored to center on Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes as the former finds himself facing resistance from the United States government and its opposition to him taking on the Captain America mantle.

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, The Falcon and Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier will debut on Disney+ in late 2020.
