Variety reports Malcolm Spellman (Empire) is set to develop a potential team-up series featuring Falcon and the Winter Soldier for Disney’s upcoming streaming service.
The duo played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan previously teamed-up during Captain America: Civil War and were last seen turning to dust after Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War, however, they are both expected to reprise their roles in next year’s Avengers 4.
Spellman is the first writer tasked with developing a series featuring characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the new streaming service. Marvel first announced the development of live-action series for Disney’s direct to consumer service in the fall of 2017. It was revealed last month that Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are expected to reprise their roles as Loki and Scarlet Witch for a new standalone series Disney is producing for the service.
In addition, the new series were reported to also feature other popular characters from the MCU who have yet to get their own standalone films. While no other details for the limited series featuring Falcon and Winter Soldier are known, each of the previously reported series are said to have between six and eight episodes. Marvel Studios will produce the new standalone shows with Kevin Feige for the new service which is expected to launch next fall.
