Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them marked the return of J. K Rowling’s Wizarding World to the big screen, five years after the final Harry Potter film was released. Inspired by Rowling’s fictional textbook of the same name, the film starred Eddie Redmayne as the book’s author, New Scamander. Redmayne will reprise his role as the famed magizoologist when he narrates the upcoming audio version of the textbook. Now, Entertainment Tonight has released a preview of Redmayne’s narration for the highly anticipated audiobook.
In the preview, Redmayne recites a passage about basilisks, the infamous giant serpents that appeared in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Redmayne discussed the fun and challenges in narrating the audio book.
“Before I was cast in the film, David Yates told me about Newt and this textbook. I found it so funny and so enchanting and really wittily written. But it wasn’t until I started reading it out loud for the audiobook that I realized how tricky and poetic J.K. Rowling’s use of sounds and language can be.”
The audio version of the book will include passages on six new beasts and a new forward by Newt Scamander.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Directed by David Yates and written by J. K. Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Carmen Ejogo, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove and Colin Farrell.
The audio book will be available on Audible beginning March 14, 2017.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be available on Digital HD on 7 March, 2017, and on DVD and Blu-Ray on 28 March, 2017.
