Kevin Feige Discusses Peter’s Spidey Sense In The MCU

Spidey SenseSpider-Man is known for all of his powers – whether that includes wall-crawling, web-slinging and web-swinging, perhaps one of the most vital powers he possesses is Spidey Sense. We have seen both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s takes exhibit this, but we have yet to see Tom Holland’s Peter Parker utilize it.

Recently, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked about whether or not this version of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe possesses Spidey Sense, to which Feige explains that he thinks he does:

“No, I think he has it. And I think he has it with or without that suit. I think how we explore it in a cinematic sense will change. I mean, that was sort of a big showy part of previous versions and we thought that we’d make it more of an internal, sort of second nature thing for him. But there are ways coming up that will slowly hint at that and also just make it part of his, you know, his natural abilities. But we don’t know that if it will be — I think we’ll explore it further down the line, but [it’s] definitely him not the suit.”

Feige’s interpretation of how Spidey Sense works reflects well with how the comics have portrayed it. Spidey Sense is in fact second nature for Peter – and he has used it whether he is using the suit or not. It gives Peter the power to be more aware of his surroundings and helps elevate his skills as he continues to save the city.

After Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter will next appear in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. Hopefully, we see Spidey Sense further explored in that film as well as the untitled sequel to Homecoming.

You can’t do any of the evades he pulled off in the movie with just simple human perception, of course he has it. ( I mean the scenes with him using his homemade suit, he was still evading everything.)

How can you say we’ve never seen him utilize it? Go watch Civil War when he fights Bucky and Falcon.

Yes! Exactly. He says “Oh crap!” or “Oh no!” as something is being thrown at him, from behind. He knows it’s coming and jumps out of the way.

I also noticed that he realizes Ant-Man is on the shield before he increases his size. He still got hit, but he doesn’t know where the danger is coming from because he doesn’t even know Ant-man is there. That could be another example of the spider-sense.
