After the cancelation of Marvel and Netflix’s Iron Fist, lead actor Finn Jones has landed another role in a new series pilot.
The Immortal Iron Fist always lands on his f… Feet, right? Well, that seems to be the case for Iron Fist star Finn Jones, who has booked his first gig following the cancellation of the Netflix and Marvel joint effort.
Courtesy of Deadline, Finn Jones has officially been tapped for the lead role in Fox’s upcoming crime drama Prodigal Son. The show will be produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television and features an impressive lineup of on-screen talent that includes the likes of Michael Sheen and Bellamy Young. Deadline describes the project as:
“…a fresh take on a crime franchise with a provocative and outrageous lead character and darkly comedic tone.”
Finn Jones will become Malcolm Bright, who is described as the best criminal psychologist around with an uncanny insight into the minds of serial killers. How, you might ask? Turns out– and get ready for this– his father (played by Martin Sheen) was, in fact, himself a notorious serial killer nicknamed “The Surgeon.” Prodigal Son will follow Malcolm as he teams up with the NYPD in order to catch similar homicidal maniacs. Co-starring alongside Finn Jones in the pilot are Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, and Frank Harts.
Of course, Finn Jones is best known for his stint on Marvel and Netflix’s Iron First, where he starred as Danny Rand aka the Iron Fist. Jones also reprised his role as Danny on sister shows The Defenders and Luke Cage before Netflix abruptly pulled the plug on all their Marvel television series, which also includes Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
The decision to do so is not without its opponents. Passionate fans of Daredevil have petitioned to have the show revived, going so far as to raising enough money to rent expensive billboard space in Times Square with messages promoting their cause.
Before his two-season stunt in Iron Fist, Finn Jones was best known as Loras Tyrell on HBO’s megahit Game of Thrones.
What do you think about Finn Jones landing another potentially high-profile gig at Fox? Are you glad to see the actor bounce back from Iron Fist? Sound off in the comments below and let us know!
