Finn Jones makes his superhero debut as Danny Rand today on Netflix in Marvel’s new series Iron Fist but later this summer the fury of the fist will fight alongside the rest of the street level heroes established in Marvel’s Netflix corner of the MCU in the team-up series The Defenders.
In a recent chat with IGN while promoting Iron Fist, Jones explained that while Danny Rand is the rookie of the group, he’s also pivotal to the plot of the team-up series:
“Danny is incredible pivotal to the whole narrative of The Defenders which you’ll see but in terms of dynamic in the group he is most vulnerable, most optimistic and most reckless of the group.”
The Defenders also stars Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, and Mike Colter as Luke Cage.
Plot details for The Defenders are still under wraps but the series will follow the heroes for hire as they put their resources together to take on a mysterious businesswoman named Alexandra, played by Sigourney Weaver. The biggest clue we have so far is that the threat the heroes face somehow revolves around the offices at Midland circle, which happens to be where Daredevil and Elektra (Elodie Yung) discovered the massive hole in the ground in season two of Daredevil.
The Defenders will arrive on Netflix this summer but first comes Iron Fist which stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, David Wenham as Harold Meachum and Carrie-Ann Moss reprising her role as Jeri Hogarth. Here’s the official synopsis:
Danny Rand returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting his world around him with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
All episodes of Iron Fist are available to stream on Netflix today.
